What nice Purple Flowering Evergreens are out there?
Ceanothus "Ray Hartman" is a fast-growing shrub easily trained as a tree, drought-tolerant, with excellent structure and long-lasting lilac-like purple flower spikes in spring. It tops out at about 15'. The only thing that might be a problem is that it doesn't like too much water, so if you live in, say, the Southeast it might be inappropriate.
Reply:I have a Lilac (very pretty, fragrant and low maintenance).

Also, attracts butterflies and good for clipping to take in the house.
