I've always wanted to do my wedding color as purple, although I am open to suggestions since purple seems a very difficult color to find (esp. for BM dresses). My idea was to do royal purple tablecloths with lavender napkins. HOWEVER, my mom came up with a very original (and awesome) idea that we should have different centerpieces for each table, made up entirely of one flower for each table. Meaning, instead of place cards with table numbers, we would have little pictures of the specific flower, such as: the sunflower table, the tulip table, etc.
I really dont want white linens, but how can I do purple linens with all these different color flowers on each table without it looking tacky? What do you think?
Thanks for the suggestions!
PS Purple is negotiable, the different flower centerpiece idea is not.
Wedding colors: what kind of flowers will go with purple and lavender linens and napkins?
If you use pink, light yellow, light green or white/cream, you will have a lot of options. These colors all look awesome with purple. You could use shades of purple as well, but I am not sure if you want everything to be in that color. You could use the flowers you mentioned, and there are soo many different types of flowers that could be used in addition to those. If you go to theknot.com, they have a really great section on flowers and you can search by color.

Good luck!
Reply:Iris, Orchids, Roses, Calla Lilies, Daisies
Reply:Add an accent color to the purple maybe silver, white, yellow.
If you choose yellow which is also a royal color (goldish yellow) You can have the different flowers be yellow ones. Like daffodils, dahlias, sunflowers, yellow roses, carnations, chrsythamums, daisies, tulips, gerberas-- yellow is a very common color for flowers and plays off nicely with the purple.
Hope this helps! congrats!
Reply:there are Flowers in purple and lav sounds beautiful do all purple and lav Davids bridal has purple and lav dresses BM and also bride dresses have some colors also sash some have ribbon around the bottom check it out
Reply:check out david's bridal for colors ... they have some choices for purples.
as far as using the purple for the table cloth/napkins, do it if that is what you want. i think it's such a cute idea to use the flower center pieces as table 'numbers'. if you're really worried, ask your mom to add some little purple flowers to the center pieces ... not a lot, just enough to incorporate the color scheme.
HAVE FUN!!!!
Reply:purple carnations beautiful flowers
Reply:lilacs
Reply:There are deep purple and lavender pansies and nosegays are a light lavender. You can get carnations dyed lavender or purple. There are sterling roses that are a silvery/purplish color. There are some irises that are purple in color. I would recommend going to a florist and asking what types of flowers come in shades of purple.
Reply:That is a good idea.
You can find many types of flowers that would look nice with purple. I DO NOT suggest using purple flowers however unless it is a very light periwinkle. All that purple would be way too much.
Here are a few suggestions:
-Calla Lilies or Spring Lilies
- Roses
-Hydrangea
-Dendrobium Orchids
- Gerber Daisies
-Fringed Tulips
-Lilac
-Hibiscus
If the tableclothes are dark then you should stick with centerpieces that are lighter in color like white, light yellow, cream, peach, salmon, white, periwinkle, baby pink, and light shades of green.
If your table clothes are light purple then go with richer, bolder colors like coral, red, dark pink and green, etc......
Good Luck
Reply:Lilacs and hydrangeas!
Reply:I think with this idea, if you wanted to keep the color purple, you would have to use all white and maybe purple flowers, just imagine a room with purple everywhere, and what a bunch of different colored flowers would look like!
This idea would be lovely with a green-color scheme instead of purple, then you would open up your options a lot!
Reply:Your Mom did have a really cute idea, love the diff tables names, but the inconsistancy might leave the final look messy... What about the same kind of flower for each centerpiece but in a different color (ex. a different color tuliep for each table, they all go with purple: http://www.flowerbud.com/images/features... Just a suggestion...
Hope that helps, I love purple too :)
Reply:The only thing is, you have to make sure that the flowers you pick are available in the season you plan to get married.
There are many websites that will tell you the most populous flower in varying season. Those flowers will be easier to find and will be less expensive.
Another thing to keep in mind is that real flowers are expensive.
I have four bridesmaids, four groomsmen, and corsages and boutonnieres for the wedding party, including my arrangement, and it was over $500!!! So, if you're thinking of putting a centerpiece at every table, you might want to re-think that idea, just because of price.
We decided to use fake flowers to decorate the sanctuary and we spent over $100 for those. Luckily a lady from church put them together so beautifully.
It's a neat idea if you have no budget to worry about. And if that's the case, then I would suggest beautiul white flowers on every purple covered table...to keep it elegant, and not tacky.
Lilies, white hydrangeas, white tulips, Narcissus, Ranunculus, sweet pea, Freesia (they are expensive, but sooo beautiful)
Good luck. If you want any help, e-mail me at AudioA23@yahoo.com

Reply:my parents had lavender roses
Reply:you could use crocuses or lilacs
Reply:How many different tables are you planning to have? I think that it would be a nice idea, but I would try to make each table not only a different flower, but also a different color. This way people will be able to find their tables easier...
I think with a certain color purple you could definitely find a way to incoporate many different types of flowers...although, I don't know about the lavender napkins. Maybe it would be best to stick with just white or ivory. Or, you could try doing a sage green table cloth...the green goes with any flower.
For each table you could do a different color/flower like this
For blue you could use...
Deep blue orchids like these:

Green: Mums or hydrageas

Purple: larkspur
http://www.blumen.com/images/Purple%20la...
Orange: Gerbera Daisies

Pink: Tulips

Yellow: Sunflowers or Calla Lilies

White: Roses, Lilies, etc.

Then for the headtable you can do a mixture of all these flowers together.
I think it's a really cute idea! I'd definitely stick with that... :)
Reply:Absolutely love your mum's idea! However, i'd choose one color for all the flowers to provide consistency.
If you go with light lilac/lavender table linens, I'd go with white. Options for flowers could include roses, gerbera daisies, daisies, white irises, orchids, hydrangea, lily, calla lily, tulips, stephanotis (very expensive), jasmine flowers, spider mum, crysanthemums, magnolias....
If you have a darker shade of lavender, than I would go with a bright yellow - like your sunflower, yellow roses, yellow irises, spider mums, crysanthemums, dahlias, tulips, daffodils, gerbera daisy, daisy, tiger lily...
Reply:Lavendar tablecloths instead of royal purple. Then use light colored flowers, white roses, lilies, calilily, tulips, etc.
Love your Mom's idea!
Reply:do white tableclothes with your centepieces, if you put sunflowers on a purple linen, it's going to look terrible. with white, it goes with anything. i would suggest white roses dipped in purplr or lavender roses and big hydrangea. you can get it sprayed any color you want. also carnations are cheap and you can get them dipped any color also. good luck!
Reply:I love purple too, but we need to keep in mind that too much is not a good thing. Your mom's idea sounds good, that way maybe you could match some flowers that have hues of purple in them along with other colors. Many different colors go with purple, you just have to find the one to fit you. Light colors of green go good with purple as do some colors of blue. Like say a teal color to highlight the purple or vice versa. Look at different flowers online and see what flowers have purple in them to go with the overall color arrangement. But, make sure you are using flowers that bloom during the time of your wedding so it doesn't look fake. Don't stress too much though, I am focusing more on the fun stuff than my actual wedding. Weddings are so traditional and I am not, so find what works for you and makes you happy, not others happy.
