What is the name of those beautiful blue coastal flowers in Big Sur?

My friend and I saw these gorgeous blue-purple flowers blooming in Bug Sur in May. They're tall, cone-shaped and absolutely striking.

What is the name of those beautiful blue coastal flowers in Big Sur?
Oh, I love that plant, too! It's Echium, in the Boraginaceae. I'm not sure what species, though.
Reply:It is certainly an Echium...I think it is E. candicans.
