Where do purple flowers get their color?
it`s all in genetics. if the flowers that it was born from were purple or one of them was purple, then that`s why it is. Purple is dominate over white etc. so thats why...
Reply:the purple color is from a pigment called anthocyanin.
Reply:pigments...there are a whole range of differnet types and are in different levels in different flowers to give the colours we see.
anthocycanins do reds/purples/blues
flavones pale yellow,
carotenes do yellow, orange and red
So while anthocyanins do the main purple the intesity and shade will be affected by the other pigments too.
