Wedding colors-Purple & Red; Guys-black suit, red shirt, purple tie; Girls, purple dresses carring red flowers

Me (bride) Ivory dress with possiable purple accents, carring red and purple flowers. Groom-black suit, white shirt with purple/red boutiener. Is this way off or workable?

Wedding colors-Purple %26amp; Red; Guys-black suit, red shirt, purple tie; Girls, purple dresses carring red flowers
It sounds a little off, but if you like the colors I'm sure you can make it work. Maybe add a neutral color to the mix like black for instance.. Or maybe do a very deep purple in the flowers and a deeper red. In my mind I'm imagining you're talking almost royal purple and a bright red. I think if you go with deeper colors it will really look fantastic.

Congratulations on your wedding. When is the date?
Reply:way off
Reply:Way off! Pick red OR purple. Not both. Just don't.
Reply:Purple only. It is to close to Christmas for red.
Reply:the red shirt and purple is a NO! I would try maybe a white shirt with a red tie. Girls wear a red dress and then use purple as the accent...

However.. deep gold and purple look awsome together. Have the guys wear all black with purple/ gold flowers. and the girls wear purple dresses w/ the same flowers....
Reply:Have the groomsmen wear white shirts with either a red or purple tie.
Reply:its definetly workable. Red and Purple are complamentary colors. Congrats!
Reply:mabey you should get ur dress wiht pink actents lke a lite color and ur flowers should be pink nd white the groom is good an dthe brieds mates should be carring white flowers to much red! guys should where red
Reply:too much going on there. keep it simple with the guys colors, white shirt with purple tie and red boutiener, purple for the girls is good with red flowers also.
Reply:I like it! I know I'm not agreeing with the general concensus but I'm guessing you love those colours and can't imagine a brighter, more festive colour scheme for your wedding.

Go for it! Sometimes it pays to be a little bit daring - good luck!
Reply:I gotta say it... Red Hat Society???
Reply:Your kidding , ?

Aren't you ??

WAY OFF !!!!!!
Reply:UHMMM, no way, you will look like your going to a Red Hat Society meeting.

Reply:A dusty rose and claret (dark red purple) would look better...
Reply:I think a rich red and a rich purple are both lovely colours but together would lose the impact. I fear you would end up with a dark mish-mash where neither colour would stand out well.

With either colour, you may want the guys in grey suits with white shirts so that the colour of the tie really stands out. Or have the vest in your colour but a black tie.
Reply:way off purple red and black? sounds either pimpish or elvis or elvis as a pimp

non of those sound very nice

two strong colors like red and purple are just going to be gaudy pick one of the other or my opinion neither

good luck
Reply:I have seen it done and it is workable but you have to make sure you pick the right reds and purples or else it can be overwhelming. I would stick with a basic whtie or ivory shirt and have a red and purple tie or a purple tie with red flower or vice versa. Its workable you jst have to find the right colors.
Reply:Hi. I must agree with the others. I don't like red and purple together. Pick one or the other.

Guys in a red shirt with purple tie -- eek!

If you want purple....go with a soft complimentary color like a real light lavendar (for the girls flowers).

For the guys - black tux with a white shirt and lavendar tie.

If you want red...then just go with red, white and black.

Good luck!
Reply:i think it sounds hot!! BUT only if you're talking about shades of red and purple. and not bright red and purple. If you pair a nice dark burgendy or wine red shade with a light lilac or lavender purple. That'd be HOT! Or perhaps a light pink or lighter shade of red and a dark violet, purple, or maroon... that'd be nice too! If you're talking about straight up Crayola Red and Purple... yeah.. thats gonna be bright and ugly.
Reply:What I really don't like is red shirts w/purple ties. Some guys should be red shirts %26amp; ties and the rest should be purple shirts %26amp; ties. That way they look nice regardless of the wedding colors. I think the groom should wear a black tie and a red bouttonier. Bride's dress ivory carrying purple and red flowers.

Reply:Way off!!! I'd cut out a purple or a red some where - or at least substitute it with a less contrasting color!
Reply:It is workable, but lets tone down the red. Go with a dusty pink, and a purple in a dark blue. You want it to flow.
Reply:It's possible but you might give yourself a ton of headaches trying to make it work. It may not look as great as you think when you get all the pieces together though. I wouldn't think that the red tie on a purple shirt would look all that great. Sorry.
Reply:ugh. start with white and work off of it.
Reply:have you ever heard of the "red hat society"??? (google it if you haven't) that is what your wedding reminds me of. please, seriously take that into consideration.
Reply:Purple is a power color. I wouldn't associate it with a wedding. Spring colors, indicate fresh new life, fertility, etc.

Purple has an intimidating effect on people psychologically. I think the purple and red will clash visually. Just have one intense color, if any. Red and purple together? Too much psychological intensity I think, even if they do somehow go together visually. It's your day though, totally, and I'm sure everyone will want to accomodate you however you want it on your very special and important day.
Reply:Errr...sounds kind of loud. Maybe it would be prettier if I were looking at the colors together. I have never seen in a wedding done in purple and red. Good luck with that.
Reply:Wouldn't be very pretty. Why purple and red?
