Purple tree flowers?
Lilac. very fragrant. not a tree, but a shrub. can get tall and woody. and then all the flowers are at the top. pruning,to keep them bushy and flowering where you can see the flowers is a 3 year process.mentally divide the stems coming out of the ground into 3 sections. now cut away one of the sections to ground level.(do this after blooming) Then for the next 2 years cut away the next "section" that you have marked off, The plant will rejuvenate from the ground. it will be thick, and bushy and be covered in blooms!... it is a hardy perennial, so it only blooms for 2 or 3 weeks a year. go ahead and take off all the dead twigs from the spent flowers after blooming.
Reply:Definately a lilac as said here..Please keep in mind..all parts of the lilac bush/vine are very poisonious to plants, children, and any humans..especially the berries right before blooming..
Reply:Idaho locus, one of my favs!
Reply:That's a lilac!
