How can I kill these purple weeds/flowers in my lawn?

I have these purple weed/flower things in my lawn (technically my 'idiota' neighbor's lawn, but he's a complete and utter moron and doesn't take care of his yard. He leaves it unmowed where the weeds are near the property line because he know's I WILL mow it since I cant stand it!), in any case they look like flowers, and I've tried weed-b-gon and it kills the dandelions and other weeds just fine, but not these darned flowers/weeds!

They don't really look like henbits as many sites suggest, the flowers are 2 inches long and 'droopy' and very pretty purple (not pretty when they are random patches on my/the moron's lawn OF COURSE)

I live in NC, and I wonder if anyone out there knows how to kill these things without killing my/'estupido's' lawn!

I am in NC too, and have seen these beautiful purple flowers in my lawn. I take them out by the root everytime they pop up. I have seen people grow these "weeds" with beautiful purple flowers around here. They resemble evening primroses, which are pretty invasive, as well.

I don't know if you can kill them completely.
Reply:If it is truely a weed, fertilize it. Miracle grow the sh-- out of it. They will either die or make you proud they are there. If you still don't like it, mix some miracle grow with Madge's favorite dish washing liquid Palmolive and pour it on each one. That will kill anything.
Reply:In my experience, what works to get rid of weeds is to just pull them up, and keep at it-- don't let them grow back to propogate.
