What nice Purple Flowering Evergreens are out there?
I would like to buy mature trees about 9 foot tall.Any suggestions?
What nice Purple Flowering Evergreens are out there?
Ceanothus "Ray Hartman" is a fast-growing shrub easily trained as a tree, drought-tolerant, with excellent structure and long-lasting lilac-like purple flower spikes in spring. It tops out at about 15'. The only thing that might be a problem is that it doesn't like too much water, so if you live in, say, the Southeast it might be inappropriate.
Reply:I have a Lilac (very pretty, fragrant and low maintenance).
Also, attracts butterflies and good for clipping to take in the house.

I think something like this would look nice:

You also might want to consider doing something simple like cream calla lilies. Or you could pair the cream calla's with some lovely light yellow roses and wrap them with the wine colored fabric.
Reply:Ivory Roses or Calla Lillies are what I first thought of. That would be so pretty :)
Reply:Pink stargazer lilies would look beautiful -

Reply:Different shades of purple and pink, with some dark green added in...
You could also consider having them do all white or cream bouquets-since the flowers will stand out against the dresses.
Reply:Beautiful dress! It depends on when your wedding date is I think. Summer- deep pink/fuchsia Spring- light pink, green
Winter- cream, champagne, dark green Fall- gold, cream, burnt orange, deep reds
Reply:I think this site might able to really help you
Reply:A bright pink would look gorgeous!

Reply:I've got your answer! Orange Lillies!! Look how perfect it looks

Reply:Either pink or cream. I think pink would be best. Why not ask your flower arranger for advice as well? They are used to putting the arrangements together and know what colours work well together.
Reply:My friend did that color she had all different colors of purple flowers with white.
Reply:Gorgeous gown and color! So rich !! A deep pink would be beautiful.
Reply:White or cream, a light pink and maybe some liacs or light purples
Reply:no red or pink. yellow or green would be a good contrast, or white. or blue hydrangeas, but not too blue.
Reply:White and green.
Reply:pink i love the dress

What are these purple flowered weeds, that grow wild in peoples yards in the spring? I live in Kansas. Thank?
I have violets in my yard in KCK. Report It
Reply:Crocuses
Reply:the common violet is a typical lawn invader. but, it could be many things, without more of a description it is hard to answer.
Reply:I'm pretty sure it's called sweet clover. I have them all over my yard too.
When i was little, we used to pull out the "petals" and suck the sweet honey like stuff out of the end of it... if the bees didn't get to it first.
Reply:Large purple flowers could be Morning Glory, more of a vine than a ground weed tho...

Reply:yep! ur right
Reply:Yes, also known as a red bud tree. JUDAS-TREE, the Cercis siliquastrum of botanists, belonging to the section Caesalpineae of the natural order Leguminosae. It is a native of the south of France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece and Asia Minor, and forms a handsome low tree v,ith a flat spreading head. In Spring it is covered with a profusion of purplish pink flowers, which appear before the leaves. The flowers have an agreeable acid taste, and are eaten mixed with salad or made into fritters. The tree was frequently figured by the older herbalists. One woodcut by Castor Durante has the figure of Judas Iscariot suspended from one of the branches, illustrating the popular tradition regarding this tree. A second species, C. canadensis, is common in North America from Canada to Alabama and eastern Texas, and differs from the European. species in its smaller size and pointed leaves. The flowers are also used in salads and for making pickles, while the branches are used to dye wool a nan-keen color.

What is the name of those beautiful blue coastal flowers in Big Sur?
My friend and I saw these gorgeous blue-purple flowers blooming in Bug Sur in May. They're tall, cone-shaped and absolutely striking.
Here is my picture:

Oh, I love that plant, too! It's Echium, in the Boraginaceae. I'm not sure what species, though.
Reply:It is certainly an Echium...I think it is E. candicans.

What kind of tree has tulip like flowers?
When I was growing up in the Washington, DC area, there was a tree that had large, pink/purple, tulip like flowers in the spring. Does anyone know what kind of tree this is?
What kind of tree has tulip like flowers?
It is a type of magnolia, sometimes called a tulip magnolia or Japanese magnolia.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnolia_li...
Reply:There is a tree called the "tulip" tree. It is in fact a Magnolia. it is a relic of a past geological era, when it was widespread throughout North America and Europe, Now grows only in Eastern United States and China, and named after the tulip -like shape of it's greenish-yellow orange-centred blossoms, does this help?
Reply:Magnolia.
In KY there are 2 kinds, the big evergreen with huge white flowers, then the smaller one that drops its leaves in the fall, and spring time has smallish (compared to the white magnolia) purple flowers that are similar to a tulip.
Up North, we only had the purple magnolia.
Reply:I know this as a magnolia (UK), not sure if that's another name for a tulip tree

They come in all sorts of colours, really beautiful majestic trees when mature
Reply:Could be a Magnolia. Could also be a Tulip Poplar which is pretty common in the D.C. area. Look up Liriodendron tulipfera and see if that's close.
Reply:I always thought the Magnolia tree flowers looked like tulips. But this probably isn,t the answer your looking for..
Reply:a tulip tree -not very well suited for drought zones, but beautiful and unique.
Reply:I have seen the type of tree you are talking about, and I have always heard it referred to as a tulip tree.
