I just took a walk around the house outside and found some of the prettiest purple flowers. They are gorgeous! The only problem is, they're off to the side of our driveway and I'm afraid that some neighbors may kill them! I'd really like to transfer them into a regular pot. What are the best methods for taking ground plants and making them into potted ones? Will this little guy have any chance of surviving if I keep it watered and tended to every day? What are some tips and tricks you would use? Thank you!
Transferring ground flowers to a pot?
what can it hurt to try.. if the neigbors are gonna kill 'em anyway.
Get good potting soil and a pot larger than the plant's root mass. place the root mass in the potting soil and water it well. keep the plants in the same light conditions that they were in before and keep the plants watered and add some fertilizer after you see that they will be OK...
Hope for the best..
good luck!
Reply:I would get a large enough planter. Put some rocks in the bottom, put your plant in, and add potting soil. Then just water and feed it regularly.
Reply:I've done this many times. Just dig widely around the base. Loosen the dirt with water (do not damage the roots) Put it in a pot with potting soil. Water with miracle grow. Or, you could move it to a safer place in your yard. Same way.
