This purple flower reminds me of a poppy, but I am not really sure what it is. Can you identify it for me:

Can you identify this purple flower?
It is a blue poppy-very rare-it looks as if the color was enhanced some how-perhaps with photo shop or with some kind of filter on the camera. You can see another photo of a similar flower at http://gardening.items4you.biz/valmue/va...
Reply:I agree with Danny's Gal, it is not an anemone. The flower looks similar, but the leaves are all wrong. Take a close look, they appear to be large leaves like a daphne or something. Anemone leaves are delicate fern like leaves, %26amp; paler green then the ones in the picture.I too have been growing them for over 50 years
Edit Meanolmaw, I think you have it, I recently saw some just like that, but couldn't remember the name!
Reply:It is NOT an anemone, the leaves are wrong. I have one in my hand as I write. And it's not a tulip either. I am not too sure of what it is.
Reply:there's only one flower I know of that has that particular color.... Lisianthus...

Reply:It looks more like a crocus to me.

Reply:No, it's not an anemone. Like the person before me said, the leaves are wrong, though the flower does appear to be similar.
Reply:No, it's not an anemone.
Reply:I can verify that this is absolutely an anemone (pronounced ah-neh-ma-nee) and it is hardy to zone 6, growing from fall planted bulbs that bloom in spring. This type lasts very well in a vase and makes a beautiful addition to spring bouquets. If you decide to plant these, make certain to soak the bulbs over night before planting.
Reply:The flower is an Anemone
Reply:Looks like a blue rose.
Reply:Donna C is right, I have some blooming right now.
