What is the name of this purple flower?

This flower has just started to bloom maybe a month ago (End of April to beginning of May). The flowers range from white to purple with shades of pink in the middle. They are about 5 feet tall and seem to grow almost like a weed. Here is a link to a picture of the blossoms.

October wedding in Texas.Suggestions for purple, blue, yellow, orange, pink flowers? Main color dark purple...

I am getting married in Oct. in Fort Worth, TX. I am looking for purple flowers mostly, with some suggestions for bright blue, magenta, yellow and orange too. My main color is dark purple, so I want to stay away from pastel lavender or lilac. I'm not a huge fan of roses, but I'm going to be making my own bouquet so I want flowers that are easy to work with. Here are some bouquets I like to give you an idea of what I'm looking for:

Calla Lilies are very nice and come in a variety of purples to blue-ish. They also have stems in orange and yellow. You could use roses, carnations, daisies, mums or anything else to fill in if you like.
Reply:October's flowers are cosmos and marigolds if you want to keep with the month .

I tried looking at your bouquet pics, but they wanted me to log in.
Reply:While they are all verry pretty, my favorite is the fourth one for an October wedding. the second one is good too.

Congratulations!
Reply:try lillies or carnations you have them died to whatever color that you want and i couldnt see your pics cuz i am not registering
Reply:I would get some yellow roses as well as they represent the southern belle.. The yellow rose of texas. Yellow and purple are exact opposites on the color wheel so they actually compliment each other well.
Reply:I love hydrangea not a typical wedding flower but they are beautiful
Reply:I'm a wedding coach in California but have family in Ft Worth!! Congrats and get ready for a whirlwind of activity surrounding your special day. Have you thought of Calla Lillies? Here is a link to a pretty bouquet. http://www.flowersbyjoanne.net/images/We...

The bouquet could be fresh or Silk. If you wrap the stems with ribbons of your corresponding colors and let the ribbons trail down it would really be elegant.
Reply:I am a JP, and when it comes to flowers, your florist is the best to ask. Throughout the year there is a variety of flowers that are good. Some flowers that are good for spring are not good for fall, as with any other season. Talk to a florist.
Reply:go to a flower store and take someone with taste with you.
Reply:Too bad your wedding isn't during blue bonnet season!

But for blue flowers you can try Irises, bluebells, for yellow theres daffodils, tulips, esparanza, lilies.

Magenta and orange you can get lillies.

I couldn't see your links, it required a log in.

How do you divide purple cone flowers?

We dig them up and divide them in clumps of about 2 or 3. then replant them, spacing them apart, with peat moss and water everyday until they are established. We divide in the fall but, I think the spring would be okay also.

How do you divide purple cone flowers?
Bob pretty well said it all. They are a great plant for a sunny area and really tough. They make plenty of seeds and you'll get a lot of new plants without trying.
Reply:Bob said it best.

Help!! In this same cactus, purple flowers are dominant to yellow flowers. A cactus that has both...?

... two-pronged and one-pronged spines has yellow flowers. It is crossed with a two-pronged cactus with purple flowers (heterozygous). What are the phenotypes of the offspring and in what proportion?

Help!! In this same cactus, purple flowers are dominant to yellow flowers. A cactus that has both...?
If I am understanding you correctly.

Purple cactus (heterozygote for the dominant purple flower )is crossed with a recessive yellow flower.

if P = purple and p = yellow

Pp x pp

offspring = Pp, Pp, pp and pp.

Phenotype would then = 2 purple and 2 yellow.
Reply:Assuming that these two are not linked genes and segregate separately: Two-pronged one-pronged purple, two-pronged purple, one-pronged purple, two-pronged one-pronged yellow, two-pronged yellow, and one-pronged yellow

I really want the upside down umbrella weeping tree with fluffy purple flowers on it....?
Here a several trees that have fluffy purple flowers.

Flowering cherry, flowering almond, flowering plum,or crab apple. Weeping trees are trained that way by trimming all the but the outermost branches that weighs down the branches and the weight causes "weeping" effect. Different varieties and cultivars of these species are availible and can be white, purple or pink. Some have pretty leaves too.
Reply:They are very interesting!

In pea plants, with the genes for flower color, purple flowers (P) are dominant over red (p). With the genes?

for pollen grain shape, long pollen grains (L) are dominant over round (l). Plants heterozygous for purple flowersand long pollen grains (PpLl) are test-crossed with the homozygous recessive (ppll). The following offspring are produced:

purple, long 118

red, round 122

purple, round 32

red, long 28

Are the genes for flower color and pollen grain shape on the same chromosome? Can you figure out how far apart they are on the chromosome?

In pea plants, with the genes for flower color, purple flowers (P) are dominant over red (p). With the genes?
They are linked on the same chromosome.

purple, long 118 = parental

red, round 122 = parental

purple, round 32 = recombinants

red, long 28 = recombinants

Total = 500

Total recombinants = 32+28 = 60.

% recombinants = 60/500 = 12%.

Cross over frequency = 12% = 12 centimorgan (abbreviated cM) or map unit (m.u.)

12 map units apart.
